This picture really amazed me. It shows that 1 in every 2 African youths are
unemployed. That’s crazy considering the fact that Africa is one of the most
highly populated countries in the world. The youths making up Africa is precisely
41%... so out of that large percentage, half of them are jobless and do not
create even the smallest of an income for their family.
Can you imagine what America would
be like if half of it was unemployed?
The next fact my picture shows, is
that out of all the unemployed youth, 60% of them are women. Personally I was
not surprised by this. In previous articles I have read it said, that IF women
go to school, they most likely do not get jobs afterwards. They just work in
the homes cooking, cleaning, and caring for the family and its needs. However, a
lot of women do not go to school, they just stay at home with their mothers and
begin picking up on the jobs women are “ required” to fulfill in the homes at
such a young age.
The last fact my picture represents
was most shocking to me. Within all the young Africans going to school only 10%
of them will get a job once finished school. 10% is not a big number at all.
This is exactly why there is high unemployment rates. Due to the lack in jobs
available to these students once they have finished their education. They spend
a lot of time working towards a good education, and there isn't even a job
promised to them in the end. That right there is why Africa also has low
education system numbers. Students simply do not see a point in going to school
if they aren't guaranteed a place to work in the end.
This picture was really eye opening
to me. All the articles stated facts like this, but actually seeing it shown
through a picture made me realize how big this issue is and badly it needs to
decrease.

This picture is a good way to show loosing hope. Like you said, if there isn't a job that they can get into out of school, then what is the point of going to school in the first place? These children have absolutely no hope for their future, this is an issue that needs to change.
ReplyDeleteIf I knew that there is a 10% chance to get a job after school, I wouldn't even bother to go. What is the point? The whole point of getting an education is to prepare yourself for the real world which involves a job. If there is no way to get a job, why go to school? This is very similar to an article I wrote on. Women are a minority and like none of them have a job. They just become a "house wife". This is another reason why Africa isn't at all prosperous. Most of the youth are going to school, they aren't getting a job, and the women aren't working. Could this change though?
DeleteI agree with Mad. If there were a 10% rate of me getting a job after school, I wouldn't even bother going. What's the point in getting an education if you're not going to be able to make use out of it? It's stupid to waste time sitting through school for several years and have nothing to count for it. The 10% who get a job are extremely lucky. But you can't just count on luck because it runs out eventually. 10% is an extremely low rate and to me, it's not worth taking the chance. The thought of school wouldn't even cross my mind if I were in that situation.
