A major reason why this country has made such success is that it is home to several important diamond mines. It also is ranked very high for education which is 4th. Botswana's education expenditure is among the highest in the world according to the World Bank. It accounts for 8 percent of the GDP. The country of Nigeria has Africa's largest economy but is ranked eighteen places below Botswana in education.
In other vital areas for prosperity Botswana is ranked 12th in healthcare. Life expectancy is recorded at 47 years while Africa's average age is 58. They also are ranked 4th in personal freedom with 70.7 percent in tolerance of immigrants. Although the country's economy is ranked 17th, the other areas helped encouraged Botswana rise to being Africa's most prosperous country for the last 3 years.
I find it very interesting that a country that is ranked as extremely poor could also be ranked as one of the most prosperous countries. This truly does go to show that so many factors come in to play when determining which countries are the most prosperous. I also find it pretty confusing that a country can be so poor when they actually have diamond mines.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that Botswana is very prosperous and is ranked 4th in education shows that education is very important. Compared to Botswana all the African countries that are ranked low in prosperity have poor education. Education is a necessity and without it you cannot get far. Being ranked so high in education might be the reason why Botswana is so prosperous.
ReplyDeleteEducation is the most important aspect and the government fails to realize that. They are out there letting children get little to no education at all and that is where the problems arise. Botswana is most prosperous because of their education and that should show a lot. Other countries in Africa should want to be like this so they should start making a change in bettering the education of these children, and that will lead them to being more prosperous.

ReplyDeleteClearly if Botswana has good education rate and low unemployment rates then they are doing something right. Whatever they're doing seems to be working and the rest of Africa should take notes and make a change to their ways. People in Africa are not concerned about the education people are receiving and that's where the problem does start. Education is very important when it comes to getting a job and Africa needs to realize that.
